APQ CLASSified:

APQ CLASSIFIED is the Australian Pop Quartet’s new project. APQ spends many hours in the recording studio for TV shows and recording for other artists but are now recording for their very own Spotify, Youtube and Apple Music channels. You can now enjoy our reimagining of trending songs arranged for violin, viola, cello and piano, with a guest pianist joining us every month. All the music you know and love is lovingly arranged to be performed, ‘CLASSIFIED’ style.

APQ CLASSIFIED curates the best of current music trends and ‘classifies’ them for a feature show which brings excitement, sophistication and drama to events. With a wide reaching appeal, APQ CLASSIFIED makes classical music appealing to all.

APQ CLASSIFIED record on some incredibly special acoustic instruments:

Airlie performs on her viola, nicknamed ‘The Duke’. It was made in London, in 1760 by Richard Duke and fell into Airlie’s hands whilst she was working as a casual member of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. She has since transitioned her ‘English Gentleman’ into the realms of pop, rock and even occasionally heavy metal!

Hanna’s main instrument, nicknamed ‘Red’, was made by local Sydney luthier Richard Anderson. It has a bold, rich tone to perfectly match its vibrant colour. She also has a beautiful old instrument made in 1729 in Cremona which is incredibly mellow and sweet, but so fragile that it rarely leaves the house!

Eliza performs on a violin made by Hofman Matthys in Antwerp (Belgium) from 1700. She was incredibly grateful to be gifted it recently and since then she has made it her own. With both a beautiful warm tone on the higher strings and a richness on the lower strings, the violin perfectly suits the style of chamber music performed by APQ Classified.
